Sustainable Irrigation Schemes And Livelihood:
The main objectives of the programme is to work with the community and focus on water, agriculture and livelihood and gain experience in creating awareness, organizing committees for participatory creation / rehabilitation of existing schemes for irrigation and domestic water supply, water harvesting and conservation / minor irrigation development and management including community lift irrigation project. The programme was supported by APSIDC, Khammam Division.

Food Sovereignty Programme:
EFFORT has started working for "Food Sovereignty and Tribal Land Rights" in Maripeda Mandal, Warangal district with support from HEKS India Program. In this program 1003 land right- holders have been selected from 18 habitations for over all development. These families are supported for land mobilization, land development and to promote local food grain, vegetable seed and sustainable agriculture. During 2009-12 total 167 families have been supported. In addition to this local resources (government) are regularly monitored and mobilized by appointing a special person. MGNREGS is also one of the main components of this project.

Under this programme we formed SEASON Committees and Youth Clubs in 14 Villages. Through these groups we are implementing HEKS India Programme activities. SC & ST land right- holders were selected from 6 Villages of Maripeda Mandal, Warangal District and were provided financial assistance for the following activities:

  1. Land Development Activity like stump removal, land levelling and supply of food crop seeds
  2. Assistance was given to 167 land right -holders in 6 villages for preparation of ground and fencing for kitchen gardens in their backyards and they were also provided with 10 varieties of vegetable seeds
  3. Training was provided to these beneficiaries on vermin -compost and they were provided financial assistance to establish Vermi- Compost units of their own. Now the beneficiaries are able to produce nearly 350 kilograms of vermin compost and use them for their crops.
  4. We provided 2 chicks of local variety to 167 beneficiaries in these villages
  5. Fruit plants such as sapota, sweet lime varieties were distributed to all 167 beneficiaries
  6. The selected 167 beneficiaries are using bio-pesticides prepared by traditional methods using locally available neem leaves, cow urine, cow dung etc.
  7. During 2010-2012 we supported 20 widows from 5 villages through Aadi Cow Programme (Distribution of Buffalos). Daily they earned a maximum amount of Rs. 150/- to Rs. 200/-
